Run For Hope

To complement my Hair for Hope recently.. I decided to take part in the Run for Hope.

Run for Hope 2007 is inspired by the courageous story of Terry Fox, a Canadian teenager, who despite an amputated leg due to bone cancer, ran a 'marathon of hope' across Canada to raise funds for cancer research, so that one day a cure could be found. Terry ran an equivalent of one entire marathon a day (42 km) for 143 days. When he was a little more than half way across the country, he was forced to stop running because cancer had spread to the rest of his body. Terry Fox passed away in 1981, at the age of 22. (extracted from http://www.runforhopesingapore.org/)

As I woke up around 5:20am to get ready for the BIG run.. I could hear the heavy rain belting down.. I say to myself this is not gonna stop me from taking part and the rain will stop when we started to the run.

5:40am - I left for the frist train out
6:40am - Arrived at Hourbour Front waiting for the Bus to take me into Sentosa

Rain continued to pour down

During the trip I contacted some of my friends and found out that they all decided to backout (lazy bummers) as they thought the rain would not stop.

7:00am - At one point I was contemplating to turn around and head back home. But since I have made this long journey here, the little trickle of rain is not gonna stop me. I continued

7:30am - Arrived ar Sentosa, walked to the starting area ( still raining)

8:00am - The Rain finally stopped and there was a little warm-up session

8:20am - The Raced started with the 8km follow by the 4km..Running in all terrains, Sand, concrete, drains, water and all.. After 30 minutes later... I completed my race.. Felt proud of myself ..after so many weeks/months of not running.
